Where it all began:
A passion for live music and the desire to promote local talent were the seeds that eventually led to the creation of Happyland Music Alliance. Founders, David and Deanna Piercy, spend most of their vacation time in New Orleans, largely because of the music scene. Returning to the small Oklahoma town in which they live was always a bit of a let-down after each vacation spent in a city where music is so intimately engrained in the culture. The truly frustrating thing was that the talent was there. For a relatively small rural area, Ada has an astounding quantity of talent. It just wasn’t being promoted or utilized very well.
That is changing. Happyland Music Alliance was formed as a means to promote live music. It has been surprisingly easy to talk local restaurants and bars into providing live music for their patrons. Likewise, finding local musicians interested in joining “the Alliance” has been almost effortless. The third element required for a thriving music scene is fans and we are making inroads there, as well. Social media promotion is a large part of what we do but word of mouth is vital. And that’s where YOU come in. Tell your friends what is happening. Invite them to join you at a local performance. Share the upcoming events via Facebook and other social media outlets. Or better yet, pick up the phone and make plans with a group of friends for a night out enjoying the music at one of our venues.
“Listen to the music!”
